About

I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1931, and I am the middle child with an older brother and a younger sister. Even with that hardship, I managed to make my way thru twelve years of school, graduating from R. L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth in 1949. Then I worked my way thru college, with some help from my parents, and graduated from T. C. U. in Fort Worth in 1953.

At some time during the years I was working in Fort Worth, my parents gave me a Kodak camera and that sparked my interest in photography. I later purchased an Argus C3, which was an extremely popular camera and almost everyone owned one at some time. Most of my photography was of family and friends and was done using Kodachrome 64 slide film. I still have many of those slides and they are still in great condition.

I married my wife Charlotte in 1957 in Houston, Texas, and our only child, Kathryn, was born in July 1958. Raising Kathy and getting her educated took most of our resources so I kind of left photography behind. Once Kathy graduated from college and got settled in Austin, Texas, Charlotte and I were able to start travelling a little. I purchased a Canon SureShot camera and took that on our trip to Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and San Francisco. That camera made such wonderful pictures that I really got excited about photography and became a serious amateur in the following years. Since that time I have had a Canon T70, Nikon N8008s, and a Nikon N80. Since that trip to Tahoe and Yosemite, we have been fortunate to travel to Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, England, Italy, Switzerland, Cabo San Lucas, many of our National Parks, and to our favorite place of all, Salt Spring Island, one of the Canadian Gulf Islands, which we have visited five times.

In June, 2001, I purchased a Nikon LS-4000 film scanner and that opened up a new phase for me in photography. I have scanned many of my slides since then, worked on them with photo software on my computer, and made prints and greeting cards and even managed to sell many of them. My love and interest in photography keeps growing, and my next acquisition will be a digital camera. I intend to keep using my film cameras unless digital photography proves to be too exciting and enjoyable! The advances in digital photography have been absolutely amazing and from the looks of things, digital photography will surpass film in the not too distant future.

I sincerely hope you will enjoy viewing my pictures as much as I have enjoyed taking them and working on them and getting them to this web site. If you have any questions concerning my pictures or photography in general, please feel free to send an e-mail to me using the link below.

Thanks for showing up here! Please come back again because I plan to add more pictures of various places we have travelled.

I have been a member of the Houston Photochrome Club for fifteen years since joining in February of 1989. This club was founded in 1967 and currently has a membership of about sixty members. The photo skills of the members range from beginner to professional. Membership in this club, with the photographic assignments, workshops, field trips, and critiques of photos has been an important part of my phtography. The club currently shows only slides but has started to investigate digital photography to integrate it into the club. Click here to visit the Houston Photochrome Club website.

I joined the Houston Camera Club, which also concentrates on slides but about two years ago established a Digital Division. I joined this club shortly after they started the Digital Division, and it has been an excellent source of information about digital cameras, scanners, printers, etc. Click here to visit the Houston Camera Club website.
